Jess is extremely anti-pink, so I wanted to choose a pretty, feminine pattern that would still look girly, even if knit in a chic, sophisticated color. I think this combo of pattern and yarn fits the bill perfectly.

Since the pattern is only for a 6 month size and since I only have 1 skein of this yarn, I have decided to knit it without sleeves to make it seasonally appropriate for a 3-6 month old baby born in early March, and to make my yarn go further on the length of the top.

Knitting in the round, with knitted-in picot hems.

I either misread the chart or the bobble directions specify bobbles every other diamond… Because I hadn’t looked at the pics of the FO in a while I had forgotten there were bobbles in every (whole) diamond, whereas from the chart I put them in every other one. I caught this several rows after my first bobble row, but I’ve decided to go with it. Since I’m already working with less yarn than the pattern calls for, the drastic reduction in bobbles should help it go a little further. Between every row of diamonds with bobbles, I put a row of diamonds with no bobbles at all.

After about 10 rows I decided to decrease to 220 sts (to make the pattern perfect, with no additional sts for the edge) but that means the end / beginning of the rounds float around when you come to the points of the diamonds.

For the armhole BO row, I BO 12 for each armhole while working in the round, before switching to working back and forth on each side.
