Following the directions for 37” and/or 40” bust to (hopefully) get a slightly larger small… 34-35.“ Gauge on size 7 needles is 21 sts / 4.”

Knit collar on size 6 to make it smaller.

Also using the notes by the ingenious SoKnitPicky to give it a nicer fit.

I knit the increases as directed and did the decreases before I laid this sweater on top of another one that has a similar (desired) shape. The shaping I had already knit on this one was so close together that the pattern has to have been written for a much shorter bodied person, and I have a pretty short torso as it is! I ripped back to the waist (after bust decreases) and knit it for 2 1/2” before starting waist increases. They are 10 rows apart, instead of every 5 rows, like the pattern directs. I also did 4 hip increases instead of 3.

Ball 1: 101.0 g, 1 knot.

Ball 2: 98.0 g, no knots.

Ball 3: 97.5 g, no knots.

Ball 4: 97.5 g, no knots.

Ball 5: 99.0 g, no knots.

1.30.11 After doing a knitted-in hem bind off for the cuffs and hem, I didn’t like how it looked (the knitted-in hem flared out, even after going down a needle size) so I did an i-cord bind off (with only 2 stitches CO) instead. I like it a lot better!

Sleeves were knit as follows:

Do paired dec after every 7 rows (4 times)

Knit for 3 1/2”, do paired dec (2 times)

Do paired dec every 7 rows (6 times)

Knit 7 rows, start cuff pattern.

11.7.11 I realized I kept tugging at the hem on this when I wore it, so I frogged the hat I made with the leftovers, frogged the ridge stitch hem, did an additional 3 hip increases (added a total of 23 rows), then redid the hem. Now it’s perfect!
