This is a super-easy and satisfying pattern… simple, intuitive cables that don’t require a cable needle, nice shaping, and a quick knit!

(Last pic is pre-blocking, with the best buttons I had on hand at the time. I think they were too light in the end, so I switched them out after a trip to the fabric store.)

Mods:

• Increases for raglan shaping on WS (to make them less noticeable)

• Did waist / hip increases on WS with m1 / raised bar increase (to make them invisible)

• Made 6 hip increases and knit body to 15” from underarm before hem ribbing

• Knit 7 rows of k1p1 ribbing on hem, and continued cabling until BO (to prevent curling of hem and splaying of last few rows of cables)

• Picked up extra 4 sts before knitting sleeves (so they’re not too tight like others have been complaining about)

1.4.11 This yarn is lasting forever! I’m only 1/2 way through ball 2 and already something like 1/3 of the way finished with the whole sweater :D

1.5.11 Just started ball 3 today and I’m about 1/2 done with the sweater. Love it!

1.12.11 Put this on hold for a few days while I worked on some fingerless mitts, but now I’m back at it. Just joined ball 4 and the sweater measures 10” from the underarm… just 4” and 2 more side increases to go! Oh yeah, and then some ribbing (or cabling?) on the hem, and finishing the sleeves.

1.14.11 Should have this finished today. Already considering how I will knit this next time:

• Faux-cardigan pullover with collar split to just below button holes, then knit in the round

• Long sleeves

• Cabled hem and cuffs

• Knit side on RS

Only issue with this cardigan is that there is some bunching under the arms… maybe I CO too many there?
