It’s extremely small if made to pattern specs. To make larger, add 6 chains to the starting chain. I started with 67 chains for an adult-size shawl that comes together in the front. The original specs is more like a bandana size and I don’t think it is meant to come together at the neck (either that, or people really were super tiny back then. I mean, who has a 12 inch neck?).

This shawl is (partly) a test of an antique pattern. I plan to use this construction to replicate Emily Dickinson’s actual shawl that was made around the same time, and modify it to be as much like Emily’s as possible…right down to the measurements.
