These are my notes adapting the original pattern to my size and machine knitting.


On tension 4
40 stitches = 11cm wide and 40 rows = 11cm tall

Ie 3.63 stitches per cm wide and 3.63 rows per cm tall

On tension 3
40 stitches = 9cm wide and 40 rows = 10.5cm tall
Ie 4.44 stitches per cm wide and 3.81 rows per cm tall

84 rows at tension 4 (no shaping)

At armpit!

My armpit to shoulder needs to be 7.5 inches instead of 6.5 inches

68 rows at tension 4 stitch count - until 92 + 4 (96) - (48 each side of 0)

CO 8 each side at rows 119 and 120
Dec 1 each side until 92 + 4 selvedge (96)

CO 6 for 10 rows (196)
Scrap off remaining stitches


Sleeve to underarm

CO 68 stitches tension 3 + 2 selvedge (70, 35 each side) in 2x2 rib
On tension 3 - 30 rows of 2x2 rib then zero counter

Inc both sides every 8 rows:
0, 8, 16, 24, 32, - note I knit to here in T3

On tension 4 - 152 rows of 2x2 rib, inc both sides
40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88, 96, 104, 112, 120, 128, 136, 144, 152 (no inc on 152)
Total 108 stitches inc selvedge


CO 4 each side (row 154) then reset row counter
Dec 1 each side each row for 17 rows until 64+2 stitches remain

50 each side at 0
40 each side at 10
33 each side at 17


Shoulder

Knit on 66 stitches until row 48

Move stitches onto 2.75mm needle and handknit the rest.


K43 keep 23 on hold
K20 keep 23 on hold
Knit on 20 stitches for 20 rows (until row 68)
CO 20 stitches in the middle
BREAK OFF YARN. DO NOT CONTINUE WITH SAME YARN.

Switch to knit stitches on hold on both main bed
K2tog central 2 stitches then knit rest of row
Switch to slip stitches from hold on both main bed

Continue decreasing in centre until 3 stitches remain. Cast off 3 stitches. (20 rows knit)

Repeat on other side starting from centre.


Right Front

CO 81 - Start with k2, end with k1
Tension 3
After 6 rows (on row 7) MB 4 stitches from end
After 26 rows MB 4 stitches from end
Complete 30 rows then change to tension 4

Move the 8 button band stitches onto a hand knitting needle and away from machine needles

Create 1 selvedge stitch on button band edge

4 more rows tension 3

Then 84 rows tension 4 (118 rows)

Inc every 10 rows starting row 40 on opposite edge to button band up to row 100 (7 increases total - end with 4 knit stitches) then knit with no more increases to 118

At armpit! 81 stitches inc selvedge
33 stitches to right of 0, 48 stitches to left of 0

Dec 1 each armpit side each row 23 times until 14 stitches to left of 0

At row 168 - shape neck over next 18 rows
Stop - on alt side we are 1 stitch short (32 stitches)
CO 5 at neck edge - 33 reduce to 28 on right
Dec next 11 rows at neck edge - 28 reduced to 17 on right by row 179
Next 7 rows no shaping (complete 186)

37 stitches left

CO 6 shoulder edge every 2nd row for 10 rows (196)
Scrap off remaining 7 stitches


For button band, knit 175 rows at T3, adding button hole every 20 rows

We are already up to row 30 and 4 rows into next 20

Reset counter to 4 and knit up to row 149, button hole every 20. Slip stitch on right edge.
