I wanted to knit with hemp. I found this on my trip to Hawaii. Since it was this spectacular pink color, I knew I would give it to Lauraphelps, my SIL. She loves THE BLING, so to make this scarf xtra special I added clear glass beveled beads.

I added clear glass beads to the ends of this scarf. I first threaded the 5 cone-shaped glass beads, so that I could cast on around them. I did the long tailed cast on. I would cast on 2 sts, then slide a bead up to the needle and cast on around the bead. The yarn would suspend the bead away from the edge of the knitting and you can control how far away you want the bead to be from your edge. Then I would cast on two remaking sts. Repeat this 4 more time for a total of 25 sts.
Turn the work and purl one row.
Then start the pattern.
I added more glass beads to the yarn overs with dental floss then taking the loop from the bead, place this on the right needle to count for the YO stitch.
Then purl back on the wrong side.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 without beads.
Beads were added to the YO in the next row.
Then purl back on the wrong side.
Again repeat rows 1 and 2 without beads.
Beads were added to the YO in the next row.
Then purl back on the wrong side.

The scarf was knit until half of the yarn was used. Then the other half was repeated as above until all the yarn was nearly done. The two halves were joined by the Kitchener stitch. Blocked then photographed.

Laura cannot pretend very well, so if she hated this scarf, only the devil knows. She LOVED IT in other words.
