First try: Theresa’s Pattern from Knitting Counterpanes. Final size 12” square; too big for a baby blanket. I’ve always loved the research and the patterns in this book but didn’t want to commit to a bedspread-sized project. But a baby blankie is perfect! It will be interesting to see what size squares I get, but it looks like 3 x 4 squares will do the job.

Ack! Thought I was knitting on 3s but turns out I had grabbed 5s. The fabric looks fine, actually, but the squares are big: 10” by the time I got to the first round of purl. Finished squares will be 15” I bet. Okay, so 2 x 3 plus borders will give me about 3 x 4 feet. Big.
