Making with yarn from a friend.
I attended the wedding for this couple expecting their first baby girl. I wanted something special to make and found this lace pattern. As I start it, it’s a challenge as I haven’t made a blanket “in the round” or in lace.
The two pictures are from a baby shower I attended during work Tuesday, July 10. I’m going to make another blanket in a similar fashion so I offered this work as my “sample”. First time I get pictures of my work in process.
Update…unfortunately, today…I had to “frog” the blanket. It was wrapping itself around the circular needle I was working on. I was towards the end and getting ready to put it on the straight needles when I made this discovery. I still made the “presentation” of sorts, and let the Mother-to-Be that she would have to wait a bit longer for this heirloom for her baby. I had frogged enough to show the pattern. As I continued during the shower, two nice ladies, Karen and Terri, assisted me and we discovered that some work went back and forth. Aha, says I, now I know what to look for.
It did give the ladies a “laugh”. I had a couple of curious ones that asked me why I was undoing the blanket with so much effort already done on it. It’s disappointing but now I know what to look for as I start it again.
After six (6) times of frogging this blanket, I finally got this right! My Mom gave me a hint that I’ll be sure to use on the next blanket I make. Here are a couple of pictures of me working on the blanket in front the General Grant Tree during my vacation at Sequoia National Park.
FINALLY! Completed this baby blanket and I could not be more proud of the results. A great deal of thanks goes to my Mom for the hint she gave me to prevent the twisting, thanks to the VBC ladies for all their prayers and thanks to my friend, Kathryn for her loving support as I closed out this project.
2014 - Made this blanket one more time in blue but it took 9 times to get it started. The baby I made it for loves it enough that he’s pictured at six months with it.
