The worm’s curves are shaped in single crochet. Although he will stand up by himself, he’s a little wobbly so I added a bent paper clip into his base to give him additional weight and support. Experimented with June Gilbank’s perfect stripes technique. The back of his head does not really have an indentation between the light green and the dark green; I’m not sure why the photo came out that way, but I think it’s a weird shadow.

The red yarn is an acrylic boucle reclaimed from an old sweater. It looks nasty in a cake but works up nicely.

Apple stem is a crocheted i-cord and his eyebrows are felt. All other details are embroidery floss; my embroidery skills are clearly not yet up to par! I went back and forth between “Bite Me” and “Eat Me” and think now the latter would have been easier to embroider.
