Started 3/20/15 -
I decided on Triangle Beads from Fire Mountain Gems - color Iris Grey - TR1157 - the large bag!!!
4/12/15 - Finally up to Chart 6 - YIKES!!! Wish me luck!!!
4/26/15 - Finished Chart 9 and took what seemed like forever with bindoff. I’m bad at the cast on method suggested for the picot bind off, so I did regular knit cast on 3, bind off 6. By some miracle, picots fell where they were supposed to!!
4/30/15 - Finished the knitting part (binding off was a doozie!!!). Now to try my hand at blocking!! First time for me!! THIS should be interesting!!
5/1/15 - Soaked shawl for 40 minutes in 2 gallons warm water and 1/4 cup white vinegar- this color is kind of intense and bleedie looking - I hope the water/vinegar proportions are OK.
Water was slightly tinged with blue. Rinsed a couple times and soaked with eucalan.
Water was more blue this time so I rinsed until it was clear.
Blocking was VERY interesting. As usual, I learned a couple things from this, especially: BUY MORE BLOCKING MATS IF I THINK I’M EVER GOING TO BLOCK AGAIN. One package of nine squares just did not do it!! And, I found an interesting little tendril - looks like a cast on 6, bind off 6 instead of cast on 3, bind off 6 I did while I was in my bind off trance - right in the middle of my bind off row!!! :( Now what the heck am I going to do to hide that?!?!?!?
After I blocked the shawl, I operated on the tendril - hubby said just cut it off!!! I said it’s not carpentry - I can’t do that. I cut some off, tied in its ends, and created a new picot that looks like all the others!! Whew!!!
Fourth and third photos near top show goofed, then fixed picot. In all that blue, it should be lost!!
