I have a mild obsession with VW buses, so when I learned to crochet last year, one of the first patterns I looked for was something V-Dub related! I couldn’t find much at the time, but I did find this applique. I should have woven the ends in as I went along, but as a crochet newbie, I didn’t. I think it sat around for a couple months before I finally wove them all in!

I loved the way it turned out, although I didn’t have anything I wanted to sew it onto. So I propped it up with some of our wedding photos (we had a VW bus for our getaway car). Last night I had a stroke of inspiration however, as I was working on a crochet mobile of flowers for our baby girl (due in a few weeks!) and wanted a centerpiece for the mobile.

So I whipped up a back for the applique, loosely based on the pattern, and stuffed it right up. (So glad I have a jar of small balls of leftover yarn so I still had the original yarn!!) I should have made the back a little wider so it would stuff better, but it’s fine as is. Purchased a crib mobile attachment on Amazon, which plays music and spins. So happy to finally see it hanging in the nursery!
