Notes

Work sweater with double yarn and cable pattern from neck down, originally in Double Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair, but I am using Rauma Mitu from my stash held together with Sandnes Tynn Silk Mohair.

“Start with the back and work until underarms, transfer sts to spare thread. Knit up sts on each side for left and right front. Work inc and dec to shape neckline and at the same time work turning rows with GSR for slanting shoulder. Join the 2 fronts to one and cont until underarms. Work front and back to the same circular ndl, cont pattern in rnds, and end with ribbing. Knit up sts on each armhole for sleeves. Work sleeves with pattern in rnds and end with ribbing. Work neckband and fold double to WS.”

I find it a bit silly how you’re told to work the neck band lastly, even when top-down jumpers are promoted as the clever way to knit because it gives you the benefit of trying it on for size and length as you go. That’s not gonna work too well unless the neck band is in place when you decide. It really pulls everything together and even lifts the whole torso, so I always finish the neck band before the entire body is finished.

SO CUTE - under the arm after you pick up stitches for the sleeve, one cable continues from the body and directly in to the sleeve. Too bad nobody will ever see it unless I wave my arms real high…

I fell instantly in love the first time I saw this model knitted up, and knew I had to make it some day. Unfortunately I didn’t realize what a bear it would be to knit, due to the weight of it… I am not sure if my yarn choice makes it feel heavier than the original, but I am hoping the final result will be worth it! I alternate between other, lighter knitting projects each day, to save my arms and hands from fatigue.
