The sleeves were too long, the fit was awkward and worst of all; the beginning of round was placed center back on the yoke…

I eventually decided to shorten the sleeves and also to steek and cut to turn it into a cardigan, as it’s not making anyone happy living in the back of a wardrobe.

I cut a portion of the sleeves off, unraveled to where I needed it to be, and performed a three needle bind off to join the pieces together again. This was far more efficient than grafting would have been and it doesn’t look bad either I marked the middle of the body and picked up stitches either side to knit button bands. Machine stitched and cut open. Picked up stitches on the inside to knit another band for covering the cut edges, and sewed down by hand.
