I bought this yarn to knit an aran cardigan from Fivel catalogue 425, but I changed my mind and will attempt this jumper instead. Just finished another design from the same catalogue, where I switched the yarn to Finull + Alpaca Silk. I absolutely love that combo, both to knit with and to wear, and I’m excited to test Fivel for this design. Hope it turns out to be a great yarn!

Absolutely loving it so far! I even love the yarn, which is a nice surprise.
Yesterday I had to go across the mountain on a mission and decided to visit mum and dad overnight at the same time, and it was so christmassy! I’ve decided to enjoy the feeling while it lasts even if it’s early still. Back home in town, today is about relaxing, knitting and sorting yarn stash.
The yoke part was finished today and I’ve split the front/back and sleeves into separate parts. I tried it on and wow the turtle neck is really high! A good thing in a coastal Norwegian town, but I should have checked earlier, and I would have made it a couple of inches shorter. Then again, this is one of those projects that will change A LOT from blocking, and I guess if I stretch the neck to be a bit wider it will be perfect. I have faith!
Sleeves
I estimated the decreases on the sleeves to be made on every 4th round (1,5 cm) and was very much doubting that it would turn out okay, picturing a very steep angle. It’s turning out amazingly un-steep, thanks to the cable pattern!
After splitting the sleeve stitches from the yoke I have twisted the cables 12 times before starting with the ribbing.
I’m knitting 30 rounds of 2x2 ribbing before binding off with k2,p2.

I’m relying heavily upon blocking miracles with this one… It’s supposed to be a bit oversized, and I am knitting one size larger than usual since I know I tend to knit a bit firmer than called for. But, I mean, it’s clinging quite snugly at the moment with yoke and one sleeve finished… Still, I’m hoping the structure and this yarn will soften up and open up after a wash & block!

Finished both sleeves as of last night, and have just started on the body. The rounds where I twist the cables + one or two following rounds are brutal…my hands and fingers are not happy, especially now that there’s a lot more bulk to the project with the sleeves done. I have about 5,5 balls of yarn left at this point.
Beginning to see an end to my slightly insane yarn stash sorting, I think I have only 10-20 more kilos to get through. Rearranging, registering and gathering everything so that I can finally get an overview and start spending it with more sense. I’ve registered more than 50 kilos so far, with more than 200 entries on Ravelry, djeez! I’m sure it’s going to be worth it, and I am NOT planning on spending a lot of money on yarn in the foreseeable future…

I’m going to reach the end of cable pattern on the body today, and start on the 10-12 cm’s of ribbing. I’m contemplating using 4mm needles on the ribbing instead of 3,5 mm like on the sleeves. Reason is I want the shape of the body to be quite straight, and not tapering in at the bottom. Also don’t want it sloppy and loose, so 4,5 mm is not going to work.

Finished and sloshing around in the washing machine atm. Took some before-pictures that I hope will be quite different from the final result, since blocking it should help the fabric relax a lot. I’m having some doubts about it, but I’m hoping for the best!
Yarn left:
33 grams
Washing, stretching and laying flat to dry gained 10 cm/2 inches to the width, which I’m very pleased with! Blocking could easily have resulted in 5 cm/1 inch extra, but 1) I didn’t need it and 2) I didn’t want to flatten the cables too much. The color difference in the various photos is only due to day/night photo sessions, nothing to do with the yarn!
Really happy with the results of this project, loving the yarn and hoping it will hold up. Would knit again in a different color.
