Notes

Oh, the beauty of having a yarn stash! I saw this cardigan on a YouTube blog and had to have it. After searching through my yarn stash I realized I had a few different options to choose from. I ended up knitting a swatch combining yarn from three different brands and my gauge is spot on, how lucky is that!

Sleeve increases: every 8th round x 10

The pattern tells me to pick up stitches “on the inside of the edge stitches” from the crocheted squares, and judging from the pictures, it looks like that means that the knit stitches are picked up from the front loops. I didn’t like the look of this since the front loop stitches of the crocheted edges are showing really well between all the squares. So I picked up stitches from the back loops and left the squares looking like squares with edges all around them.

I added 5 knitted rows to the length of the body before decreasing stitches for the underarm, so I knitted a total of 7 rows.

I don’t like the look of raglan decreases that don’t have any stitches between them, so I changed that part and did ssk-k1- k2tog instead of ssk-k2tog.

I added k1 before/after decreases on the left/right side of the front when decreasing for the v-neck, so that the beauty of the slanted stitches will show on the front of the cardigan after I’ve picked up stitches for the button band.

I frogged the double knit button band because it felt too bulky. Instead I made crocheted button bands and I’m happy with the result. 6 rows of single crochet, 5 button holes.
