Starting this adventure with one goal in mind: reducing my huge stash of leftovers from various projects through the years.
For this project I will be using Rauma Finull throughout, held together with one strand of mohair silk of different origins, using whatever is in my stash.
I started by picking 8 colors from the mohair silk stash, and went on to my pile of Finull trying to find a close’ish match to each color. (I will have to purchase one ball of light pink Finull, but with some degree of luck that’s all I need to buy!) I then had to choose placements for my colors, and I utilized the digital sketch of the cardigan front/back provided with the pattern. Since my colors doesn’t correspond all the way with the original, I started with placing the the colors that did, e.g. turquoise and electric blue. I glued down a piece of yarn in the numbered blocks on the sketch, after that I could choose freely where to put my own colors. Main color (ribbing, buttons, stripes in some blocks) will be natural/undyed.
It might seem like a lot of unnecessary extra work, but whenever I knit with two strands held together I prefer to make yarn cakes containing both yarns - if possible. By doing this I have so much less tangling going on and I have a very portable project without making a big mess of all the different yarn balls.
Really looking forward to starting this project!
The part that took the longest time? Taking and posting photos of the finished object… Super fun project, definitely making again! Getting so many comments when I wear it, people are really intrigued by this little color festival
