I made these on dpn’s because I’ve never used the magic loop method before. They turned out just fine using dpn’s. I just divided the 24 sts by 3 and put 8 sts on each needle.
I had to shift sts on the eyelet round in order to K2tog, but afterwards I just repositioned so that I was back with 8 on each needle.
After increasing, I just kept the sts where they wound up.
On the top of the foot when I had to turn and work on the WS, I made sure to have the first 10 sts of the round on the 1st needle (with the forming cable), and I worked the top of the foot on that needle.
On the sides of the bootie, I just turn the work and start knitting along with the instructions as is, putting the new sts wherever they feel most comfortable as I go. On rnd 7, I just did what it said…slipped the last st to my left needle.
On the first dec rnd of the sole, after knitting 6 I slipped the last st on that needle over so that I could K2tog onto my first needle (which then would become the last st on the first needle, leaving me with 8 sts on that needle). Once I finished that rnd with 36 sts, I took the remaining 28 sts on the last 2 needles and made sure they were evenly distributed between the two needles (so 8 on needle 1 and 14 on needles 2 and 3).
When working the setup sts at the toe, I did exactly as it said: K2tog, put resulting st onto right needle, K2tog, put resulting st onto left needle. This left me with 2 needles with 13 sts, all ready for grafting. :)
I finished up using chocolate brown ribbon. I made a baby hat to go with these, using the same yarn, and I’m waiting on 3 chocolate brown buttons I ordered to attach. Can’t wait to put them on my baby!
