Notes

2/17/14
Cast 28 sts using Judy’s magic cast on technique onto 32” 2.25mm needless. Increased using M1L/R every other round until there were 76 sts total. Began knitting the buildings from the top of the right mitten, a blend of the buildings from the palms of both mittens, and then continuing with the pattern from the mitten as written (mostly) using the 2.5mm needle. Please take a look through the pictures for a snapshot of the blended buildings I charted.

2/18/14
Even with the larger needle, gauge is 11sts/“ which just fits my foot, but will prove to be too tight for my heel. I’ll probably bump up my needle to a 2.75 or 3mm needle for the ankle. Gauge will probably get looser after switching from the simple check pattern on the sole.

3/11/14
Switched to a 3.5mm needle two rows after the waste yarn insert for the afterthought heel. Knit in a deeper than average afterthought heel in the contrast yarn, and combined with the two rows knit on the 2.5mm needles, the is no extra fabric at the ankle or at the arch. The firm fabric acts like arch support - so comfortable.

3/16/14
The switch to the 3.5mm needles proved ideal for the top of the sock. There is just enough room for my heel to make it through without saggy leg fabric. Catching each float no farther than every four stitches is working out well.

3/21/14
Knit last few rounds of charted pattern, omitting decreases, and substituting missing stitches for main color stitches.

3/22/14
Switched to 2.5mm needle for 10 rows of 2x2 rib in contrast color yarn. Using sewn bind off.
