Notes

This was the 2nd or 3rd handspun yarn I ever did, and my daughter hamncheezr’s first. We spun it from 4 random 2-oz “Batt Crazies” we bought from Wilde Thyme on Etsy.

I started two other projects from this yarn but they looked terrible and the yarn would NOT cooperate. Then I got the idea to do this shawl and the knitting went SO fast… I went through one of the balls of yarn in the first 2 hours.

Shawl based on standard structure of starter tab, 2-stitch garter border with yarnovers by border and along middle rib stitch. I used YO k2tog on the right side of the shawl and YO k2togtbl on the left side for every knit row.

Then I used an arched lace pattern loosely like the Traveling Woman shawl only based on 10 st instead of 14. I filled in the edges and filigree completer rows by just winging it.

This yarn is like Sarah… earthy but with unexpected splashes of color and sparkle, soft but bristly if necessary, airy but with substance. I hope she will lke it very well.
