My pal Arwyn is four, and she’s coming to visit in a couple of weeks from her home in Canonbie, Scotland. I wanted to make her a hat that would keep her warm, but that she might also enjoy wearing. This one has chocolate bunnies on it, and it’s purple. I’m hoping these elements might commend it to a four year old.

I followed Joel’s Pang hat pattern faithfully, this time using the 3.5 mm hook (as prescribed!). I stopped increasing the crown of the hat at 96 sc, since with the slightly finer Ultra Alpaca (as opposed to the Cascade 220 I’ve always used in the past), I thought this would bring down the size to four year old dimensions. (Postscript: it fit, with room to grow. So this size hat will fit a 4 year old child with an average to larger sized head.)
