Notes

Started just as Sandy hit New Jersey, shades of Sandy is a modern take on the traditional poncho -- simple and elegantly shaped with a fitted bodice and cowl neckline. People say that ponchos aren’t functional, but I have found shades of Sandy to be short enough that you can move in it and snug enough to provide a cozy coverup while working in my studio or as a perfect extra layer over a sweater when running to the store or walking the dogs!

Using with 3 strands of luscious Shibui yarn held together (fingering, sock and DK weights) and knit in a novel textured fabric, the poncho is reversible, with a fun embossed check pattern on one side and a deep series of horizontal ridges on the other, making shades of Sandy interesting to knit and intriguing to watch unfold.
