Knitting pattern hints
After a couple repeats, I have found it a lot easier to read my work than the pattern.
- row 9: my double yo increase without slipping off the needles row
- 4 rows of the double yo inside the droplet
- when I have 4 double yo’s inside the droplet and one on the needle, I know this is my single yo/pick up 5 row
- next will be my picking up the diagonal row
- next is my decreasing the droplet row
- start again on the yo increasing but on the ridge that the previous droplets are not on
hope this makes more sense and helps rather than hinders.
It really is a very quick knit if I didnt stope to cast on to knit and spin other things at the same time.
Pattern/Knitting notes:
-
cast on over 2 needles 35 sts for the scarf
-
No problems although I have come to realize that I depend on charts a lot to knit. The pics help and the knitting is pretty easy to read. No problems with the 5st pick up row as did something very similar with Kai Mei socks.

Best of all….no purling!
-
started with a ruffled scarf pattern from Carol at knit night(ripped)
-
followed up with drop stitch scarf(ripped)
-
Casting on Not a Drop and have great confidence this is the pattern for this yarn.
Not A Drop: handspun Yarn notes
-
288yds or 14wpi fingering weight merino/silk

forgot to weigh before I started but after 1 full 24 row repeat, I have 3.9oz left.not to worry, I have 50g fiber I can spin if I need more and enough of the purple ply still on the bobbin When I got nearer the end, I weighed remainder yarn after each full repeat. My repeats were using .2oz so no problems at all about running short. All blocked and really pretty. Blocks wider than I thought in order to open up the droplets and give them nice shape.
