st Picture: Comparing a 2mm fixed circular Pony aluminum with the Knitter’s Pride Karbonz. The cord is really nice on the Karbonz, it was very easy to bend and maneuver. If you look you can see that the cord on the Pony has a kink in it. There’s actually a few that I don’t think the camera was picking up. I’d only knit maybe a cuff size amount on it.
nd Picture: Comparing tips. Obviously the Karbonz win out on the sharp meter
rd Picture: The join from cable to needle looks smoother on the Pony but it felt pretty snaggy when I was knitting with it before. I don’t know if it’s because of the weird in and out taper.
th Picture: Both Karbonz needle. Can you see the difference in pointiness? One needle is definitely sharper. Pretty sure this isn’t intentional but I can use it like it was. I suppose if I get a really splitty yarn I can use the blunter one for the main needle? Even the blunter needle was still much pointier than the Pony.
th Picture: Karbonz joins. The metal to carbon fiber is very smooth, I can only feel a catch when I really drag my nail across the surface. I didn’t notice any snagginess knitting across those. The cord to needle join has more of a step. The other needle has a slightly better join, but not much. However I didn’t notice a problem sliding the stitches over except for the first and last stitch after a turn, when those stitches are pulled extra tight from magic loop.
th Picture: Here’s the swatch I was knitting. I dug through my stash and found a sock yarn that I had frogged the start of because it felt awful to knit with. It was splitty, scratchy, and didn’t slide well across the Pony double points I had. Did not like knitting with it. Figured it would be a good test for the Karbonz. Felt fine knitting with it, it didn’t snag on the joins, slid across the carbon fiber nicely and just had a different feel that it did before. The looser stitches at the top are from my mother-in-law trying it out. She’s a looser knitter than I am.
Thoughts… I like em, much nicer to knit with than the Pony needles. The carbon fiber feels nice and warm in my hands and kind of flexible. The sharper tips are very nice
