I did the longer “optional” ribbing.
On last two rnds of ribbing I transitioned to the larger 5.5mm needle by using a 4.5mm for second to last ribbing round, and a 5.0mm for last ribbing round.
Hat was 9” at start of decrease rounds.
4” of 2x2 ribbing = 23sts
10” crown to bottom edge x 9.25” across bottom edge when folded flat.
