Notes

Ada Lovelace is considered, by many, to be the first computer programmer. She also had an interest in other scientific things including photography which she regarded as a scientific tool.

This illusion was designed by WoolhelminaToo, based on a famous portrait of Ada. (There are only two known photographs of her.)

I used Stylecraft Special DK in Dark Brown and Parma Violet. I used 470 metres (520 yards) of each colour for the illusion itself and extra Dark Brown for the border. The finished piece measures 75 cm x 80 cm (30” x 32”). You could use any thickness of yarn but this would change the overall size.
