I made this poncho in 1984 specially to wear when we were teaching at Festival della Scienza 2004 in Genoa.

It was made in two shades of mohair and had a hat to match. It was based on our Best of Both Whirls afghan. I no longer have the poncho, or the hat, as I sold the outfit shortly afterwards.

BTW We taught a class knitting hats based on our mathematical principles. The hats were in red, yellow and white, which were the colours of the festival. Most of the participants were Italian speakers and we speak no Italian!! We worked with a wonderful simultaneous science translator, named Valentina, in the Science Room of a former palace decorated with painting and gilding, in the style of Italian palaces. It was a surreal experience.
