The banner is about 110 cm (44”) long and 15 cm (6”) wide. It would be very easy to add extra at the beginning and end to make it long enough for a scarf.

My original plan was to hang it on the wall but we laid it on top of a black table runner, on a white table, to photograph it and I am now thinking it might be nice to leave it on a black tablecloth at Christmas. Anyone sitting at the end of the table will be able to read the message; those sitting at the side will only see stripes.

The photos do not give a good impression of what it really looks like. The letters stand out much more in real-life.

I used about 170 metres of Stylecraft Special DK in Matador and about 100 metres of an unknown sparkly white DK. The sparkles don’t show in the photo.

The red edging is necessary to keep the edges flat. The white edging is optional. I added a simple crochet edging.
