This was made as a companion piece to Spacecraft. When we researching the Hibert Open Peano Curve we used for Spacecraft we discovered that there is also this Sierpinski Closed Peano Curve. You can tell one is open and the other is closed because you can see the ends of Spacecraft. Both are space-filling curves because, in theory, they squiggle round and round until every point on the surface is covered.
