Notes

The most amazing thing about this afghan is the number of stitches it contains. Each of the 14 rectangles has the same area. We know this because each one has has 3360 stitches. In addition to this the background has the same area as the 14 rectangles combined.

I used Aran yarn. Using any other yarn would change the overall size. I used less than 100 metres for each rectangle. It is easy to calculate the amount of yarn needed because it s only one calculation that is needed for all the rectangles.

The afghan is knitted from the long side. To avoid using more than one yarn at a time (which is a particular problem to me because I have difficulties with my hands) the tops and bottoms of the rectangles are knitted on, in the normal manner, as you go, but the sides of the rectangles are stitched. You can avoid this if you choose to do it intarsia-style.
