Notes

I decided to design my own Baby Mandrake, as I felt it needed to be chubby with lots of dark, fibrous roots. I added three different sized leaves and a sound box for the scream when it is grasped. I purchased the ear muffs and plant pot, separately and then added the knitted ‘soil’ cuff.

Actual Mandragora plants contain deliriant hallucinogenic chemicals; whilst the shape of their roots often resemble human figures. Consequently, Mandrake plants have been historically associated with magic ritual.

Harry Potter fans will recognise this character. “Baby Mandrake cries are apparently not fatal, but could knock you out for a few hours. As a precaution, please put your ear muffs on, before removing your mandrake from its pot”.
