Slipping the edge stitch with the yarn in front is actually really what you are supposed to do. I was slipping with the yarn in back, and you can see that the vertical and horizontal garter edges don’t meet as “cleanly” as they should have. Carrying on.

Definitely needed 2 skeins ea of the oatmeal and olive green; ran out of navy (borders) with 4 1/2 rows on the last long edge to go. knitwitluvs2bead2 is knitting the same project with the same yarn, but different colorways--I had enough leftovers of the olive green and steely blue grey to help. With a little planning, this would be a good project to knitalong with a friend to maximize yarn usage!
