Secret test knit, pattern not to be revealed until the autumn.

Edit: I now know this pattern will be part of the book ‘Grand Shetland Adventure Knits’ by Gudrun Johnston and Mary Jane Mucklestone published by Laine Magazine in October 2023.

I loved knitting it, although I should have chosen a stronger colour for my contrast on the mid-line, maybe a seventh colour? Or it could easily be done with just five colours.

If I knitted it again, I’d definitely do the ribbing on 2.75mm (or even 2.5mm) needles and the body on 3mm because I have a small head and it could do with being a bit smaller. But I’ll wear it as it is, because it’s not overly big.

On row 11, the last stitch of the row is slipped, therefore not knitted in the CC.

Changed to magic loop on row 14 of crown shaping.

Finished measurements: circumference at brim 42cm
Circumference at widest point: 52cm
Length from brim to crown: 24cm.
