I don’t have the right yarn, I am using DK from stash, so I’ll have to wing the gauge a little bit.
Also, I LOOOVE the colours of the original very much, but it’s a variegated yarn that is not easy to get hold of. It has very long colour changes, so I think I can probably use one colour per round and kind of replicate the original effect a bit.
I started the first square with 5mm hook. I stopped after round 19, ‘cause I was already at 52cm, which seemed to fit right for the body. I really like the trfp’s, and I got those in. I will use use granny stitch to do the joins.
I’ll try a sleeve using a 4mm hook instead, so that I can still fit in the trfp’s.
I am currently thinking of staying rather conservative and make 2 identical squares for the sleeves and 2 identical ones for the body. But I have already regretted using light brown in the 1st square I made. It does not look as nice as the light brown in the original. I may just replace it all with gray.
Or duck egg.
??
On with the fun! :)
There’s a bit more rose pink in there that my camera is not very good at capturing. It’s quite nice actually :)
Ok, I finished the sleeve and it worked out perfectly in 4mm. I like the colours better too. It’s real gorgeous!
I may have to add something to the sleeve, to make it a bit longer, ‘cause warm and short sleeves is not that practical. But I’ll think of that later :)

Now I look back at the first square, it’s still slightly too big, and I still don’t like that light brown,,, so I frogged it back to round 8, and from round 9 incl onwards I’ll proceed with a 4.5mm instead, and put that light brown away.

All that doing and frogging demanded a bit of rest and battery recharging. I joined the two squares of the body with a lovely liquorice all-sorts brown and blue colourwork :) after row 15.
But now the sleeves are bigger than the body! ooops
I’ll add some rows around both joined squares. Not sure how many I need, I’ll keep going until I have enough.
In 4.5mm.
Finished!
My sleeves are a bit too wide, but I was worried they would not meet at the front, so I kept going.
this caused the space in the back to shrink!
I couldn’t fit a square in there, I had to improvise a triangle…
I really really like it - but it fits my friend Isabella much better - she likes it too… so it’s going to be hers!
I am going to try make the sleeves a bit longer with plain granny stitch in brown, slightly tapering, and that’s it!
Despite my winging it, this project went very quickly, it’s so clever and the colours are gorgeous, so it may just… happen again one day ;)
