Designer Notes
Designing the Lil Punkins Cowl was fun and challenging at the same time. The cowl itself was fairly painless… it’s just a single crochet tube with some color changes. The tricky part was that I first had to learn how to do the bullion stitch for the punkins and then figure out how to explain the process to non-embroiderers (like myself, lol). Thankfully, my wonderful testers helped to clean up the instructions and guided me to create the tutorials that would be helpful for this pattern release. This pattern is actually my first self-published crochet pattern that is intended to be worn so I was pretty nervous about writing & releasing it. Again, my testers came to the rescue and their enthusiasm for the project really helped to reassure me that it was a fun design & that I wasn’t crazy for covering a cowl with embroidered pumpkins, lol. (Side note: Imposter syndrome is a very real thing. I’m really confident with my knitting skills & lessons, but I always feel like I’m very unskilled when it comes to crochet so my crochet designs tend to cause a lot of anxiety even though I know deep down that they’re good.)
