Notes

NOTES |ENGLISH| :

→ To organize the drawers in my bathroom cabinet as efficiently as possible and also avoid getting the linen fabric they’re made of dirty, I decided to crochet baskets in different sizes. I had two goals in mind: to match the bathroom’s color scheme (beige, ecru, and light green) and to use up my stash of yarn without buying anything new. This initial idea was good, but it gave me a real headache, and I was forced on several occasions to use different yarns within the same section of a basket… In any case, I really did manage to use up my stash, since, to achieve the specified crochet sizes, I had to double or even triple the yarn almost every time!

→ After trying out a few different stitches (bump stitch single crochet, waistcoat single crochet), I finally followed the Yarn + Chai tutorial almost exactly, adjusting the number of stitches and rows to suit my needs. The changes I made:
- I didn’t put any plastic canvas in the lining, even though I sewed it closed. I wanted to be able to wash these baskets easily and that they hold their shape well. And I’m glad I did, since the baskets are a bit cramped in the drawers and they’ve lost their shape a little!
- I crocheted the first few rounds (round 1 and the following ones until the piece was about 3 cm tall) using extended single crochet, then crocheted the rest using HHDC.

→ The bases were crocheted with a 5,5mm crochet hook, the rounds with a 5mm one and the flaps with a 4,5mm one.

→ For the finishing touches, I wove in all the threads except the last one, which I left longer on purpose so I could sew the inner flap to the base.

→ I crocheted 7 baskets: 2 small, 2 medium, 2 large, and 1 tall.
