I did the Turkish cast on for the first time using this tutorial
http://youtu.be/cMKdC2U-FMg
I really liked it and found it easier to get an even tension when casting on than the Magic Cast On
I couldn’t get on with the instructions for the toe for some reason so I cast on 24 stitches and worked the toe like this…
Round 1
Needle 1 - k1, m1l, knit to last stitch, m1r, k1
Needle 2 - k1, m1l, knit to last stitch, m1r, k1
Round 2
Needle 1 - knit
Needle 2 - knit
And repeated until I had 60 stitches
I used this tutorial to do a jogless colour change

I wasn’t happy with the above tutorial for doing a jogless stripe so I used the tutorial lisachristie posted which is better.
I knitted until the foot measured 6” 3/4 before turning the heel.

I did 40 rounds before starting the calf shaping

I increased on every fourth round until I had 40 stitches and worked 156 rows (aprox 11”) before stating the 2x2 rib

I have finished the first sock and I am so pleased with how it has turned out!
I didn’t follow the pattern exactly I should have increased 14 times but only did the increase round 5 times and then continued knitting in stockinette until the rib section. I tried the sock on lots to check the fit and didn’t feel like it needed any more increases or decreases even though I do have quite a shapely calf.
I did 2 3/4” of 2x2 rib so the sock just peeks out the top of my boots.
The pattern didn’t specify what type of bind off to use so I did this sewn bind off which is nice and stretchy.
I didn’t do the slip stitch seam up the back, the traveling jogless stripe colour change worked so well. I can faintly see where the colour change happens because I know where to look but when on you really can’t see it.

I stayed up late to finish these! I have to weave in the ends but that won’t stop me wearing them in the morning :)
