I cast on for this project THREE times. Three cast-ons times 367 stitches = ouchie. The first time, I tried the backwards loop cast on, and got frustrated with how uneven it became as I knit into it. The second time, I ended up with an error that I couldn’t track down in the third row. I spent two nights trying to fix it until my hubby, exasperated, told me to frog it and redo. So I did, with a long tail cast on, and the third time was the charm.

I did no mods other than using this method for adding beads rather than a crochet hook, which is how I’ve been doing all my beading. It’s great.

For my beads, I used the leftovers from my Shipwreck Shawl - a mix of sea glass inspired colors. They look really nice with this turquoise yarn.

The yarn itself is wonderful. It’s soft, not at all splitty, and has a luscious drape. I’d use it again in a heartbeat. Plus, I just made a wool/silk blend shawl for $4.29!

I knit this quite loosely and blocked it severely (mmm, severe blocking), so it ended up being a good bit bigger than what the pattern specified: 74x23” on the wires, rather than 64x17”. It remains to be seen what it will measure post blocking, but still will be larger than the pattern specs.
