Woo, here we go! I’m nervous. You nervous?
12/25/08: Cast on as a reward for surviving Christmas.
1/8/09: Thought I’d be much further than this by now, but I didn’t get as much done while out of town because I’m knit-shy and didn’t want to have people watching me try to knit. Because I move my lips when I do it.
I did my first drop last night, and I’m just about done with my first skein of yarn, too.
1/19/09: Still chugging along. This is much, much easier with my new Knitpicks needles. I had no idea how much I was struggling with the Susan Bates Velocity needles!
2/7/2009: My clapotis est finis! Avec a moment of sheer panique at the end - as I was weaving in the end for where I bound off, apparently I wove it in just so and, as I watched, the darned thing started to unravel before my eyes. I had undone my bind-off. I hyperventilated for a minute, then picked up as many stitches as I could find (only three, so one of them worked itself into the weave somewhere) and knit/purled together again. Sheesh. And I was looking forward to putting up my “This has been an accident-free knitting zone for 44 days!” sign.
I used a LOT less yarn than I thought I would - 4.75 skeins rather than 9. I have almost enough left for a whole other Clapotis. Hmmmmm….
