This is my first for-real lace project. I’ve already frogged it once! Last night I had 28 stitches on one side and 29 on the other. Oopsie.
1/29 Still in progress. I’ve done as many repeats as the pattern calls for (231 stitches so far), but it’s still neckerchief sized. And I’ve only used half my yarn. Even though the rows are taking forever, I’m soldiering on! Have bought some lovely blue-green iridescent beads for the border rows.
By the way, apparently Wollmeise + Knitpicks Options = mad tarnish. Happily, when I called to ask customer service about it, they told me it might be something in the yarn and offered to send me some Zephyr tips to finish my project with (gratis!). I love Knitpicks.
1/31 Up to 275 stitches on the needles - what’s that, 15 repeats? - and I’m down to about 40g of yarn. I think I’m going to start the border rows. I’ll probably just keep doing repeats of those until my yarn runs out.
2/1 I had planned to start the border, but found that the crochet hook I got for adding beads was too big to fit through the beads I got, so I knit another repeat or so - 307 stitches. Then someone told me about this fabulous beading method using dental floss: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/LindaLovesLace/beading-w-...
2/3 Finished and blocked! It’s just the right size for me. I did 12 repeats of the border rows, adding beads to each kbl. Binding off seemed to take forEVER - at least 1.5 hours to do row 2. Granted, I was going very slowly and carefully, and I had a bunch of extra stitches on the needles from the extra repeats.
This was also my first time blocking, and I used the Knit Picks wires (which I scrubbed and scrubbed and don’t think will ever come truly clean).
I’ll post some finished pics as soon as we get some light around here. And yes, I’ve already got my next lace project picked out. ;)
