Notes

I’m using much chunkier needles and yarn than the pattern, so it’s taken me a while to work out a good pointy corner cast on but I think I cracked it….!

I’ve landed on CO 4st, i-cord all of it for 3 rows, then m2 right in the middle (used Nimble Needles tutorial); k3 (half my newly split i-cord) then turn and sl3wyf; k3, turn, sl3wyf, m2 again (this makes the centre, the actual sort of body between the I-cords); sl3wyf, turn, k all along that i-cord and the 2st across the body, sl3wyf, turn and finally begin working to pattern from here.

I’m using just the merino for the cord and stranding with mohair for the body. It’s so nice using this yarn again, I hadn’t realised how comforting I found it to knit through last Christmas season. Really looking forward to having this to pair with my jumper, and i don’t think I’ll have long to wait!

29-10-2024

Increased every 5th row until I hit 6st between the i-cord edging, then every 11th row twice, then every 13th row.

10-11-2024

Working quite slowly. Have stepped incs up again as I want a sort of bulge to work as a hood when I want, so am doing m1r every 5th row for a little bit from when I have 19st

18-11-2024

From 26st - m1r every 3rd row.

I kind of forgot to keep track of the decrease end to ensure it matched my mods, so one end is a lot pointier than another. And since this was my constant lazy/walking/commuting knit, it’s got a few little mistakes I couldn’t be bothered fixing. And the bulge I intended as a proper hood doesn’t entirely cover my head. In fact I was kind of expecting to be unhappy with it, especially after the fiasco of the cloud blouse.

But I LOVE IT. It’s so cute! The bulge covers enough of my head to look intentional, it’s so soft and squashy and warm and just the right length to look cute as a scarf or a cowl or a headwrap, and it looks just as good with my jumper made from the original same yarn as I hoped. Super super pleased. Will definitely knit again.
