Notes

For Aki-sized (petite) hands

CO 44 sts on US3 using tubular Italian

Switch to US2
Rib K2P2 for 2”

Switch to US3
K 1 row

Begin thumb gusset
R1 kfb, k1, kfb, k to end (46sts)
R2-3 k

Continue R1-R3 increasing number of sts between kfb by 2 each repeat until row 27 (62sts)

R28 k2, sl 17 to scrap yarn and tie in a bow, co 5 (backwards loop or provisional)

RIGHT HAND k to just before CO sts, place BoR marker (50 sts)

LEFT HAND k to just after CO sts, place BoR marker (50 sts)

R45 k 19, switch to US2½.

k1p1 for 11 sts. cast on 3sts. join in the round. (14sts)

wrap, turn, and BO in pattern (with surprisingly stretchy)

third finger

(this finger is different because glove body gets on extra row after the pinkie) (if your hand isn’t shaped in a way that this makes sense, skip next row and just go straight to knitting finger)

back on US3, pick up 3 cast-on sts from pinkie and k. k 1 row, join in the round

switch to US2 ½

k1p1 for 8 sts (incl 3 picked up sts), co 3, & join in the round for finger. k1p1 next 5 sts off of glove body (16 sts)

k1p1 for 10 rows.

wrap, turn, bo in pattern

second finger

pick up 3 co sts from third finger, rib for 6 sts, co 3, rib 6 from back side, join in the round (18 sts)

k1p1 for 10 rows

wrap, turn, bo in pattern

first finger

pick up 3 sts from second finger, rib next 17 sts, join in the round. (20 sts)

k1p1 for 10 rows

Thumb

switch to US3

Slip the 17 thumb sts back to needles, pick up 5 sts on the 5 cast-on sts, and an extra st at each end of them. (24 sts)

R1 k across picked up stitches, rib the rib stitches, and join in the round
R2 k the ks, p the ps

K 18 more rows or until mitten top is flush with the wearer’s pinkie

R3-R21 k (6cm)
R22 k1, ssk, k19, k2tog, k1 x 2 (46 sts)
R23-24 k
R25 k1, ssk, k17, k2tog, k1 x 2 (42sts)
R26-27 k
R28 k1, ssk, k15, k2tog, k1 x 2 (38sts)

Continue as R26-28, decreasing 4 sts every third round, until 7 sts between decreases (22 sts total) rem
