Notes

I designed and knit this myself.

It’s on display at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa, Canada, either in their lobby or just inside the exhibit entrance. They commissioned it as an art installation. What fun for me!

I went to the museum a couple times to measure the horse mannequin, draw sketches, and then I did all the math, designing, and knitting at home.

It took me three weeks to knit (because of that deadline). I knitted about 14-16 hours per day, only stopping to eat and sleep. :) I wore my beaded wristers to keep my wrists warm and limber, and I kept my shoulder and neck muscles comfy with a knitted shawl, of course. I had to be really careful not to injure myself on such a tight deadline.

It includes short rows to shape the chest, neck, and face.

The pompoms are giants and each used about a quarter to a half of a skein.

I enlisted knitting help with the two front legs so the installation would be done on time. Thanks, dywalgi!!
