crochet lace - Sapphire

Project info
White Sapphire Doily #7655 by The Spool Cotton Company
Hooks & yarn
blue, size 10; ecru, size 30 cotton threads

The second photo is the unblocked doily. The color is a little off. It is actually a much deeper, intense sapphire blue.
The third is the doily during blocking. The third picture is closer in color, but too dark. As you can see it is in the midst of being blocked so it was damp which probably accounts for the darkness.
The fourth is the blocked finished piece. Again, the color is off.

The first and fifth pictures are of the same pattern done in an ecru size 30 thread. The sixth picture is the doily in the first photo being reblocked after laundering.

orig. Book 201 Doilies Spool Cotton Co., 1943. I used my own book. Some people have had problems with the directions. I’ve made it a number of times in several different thread sizes from original instructions and had no trouble.

ETA: I’ve made this doily in several different thread sizes, in many different colors. Decades ago it was the very first doily I saw that made me want to crochet a doily - or any lace. I’ve done dozens of patterns over the years and this remains my favorite design. I like it better than any I’ve designed myself for that matter.
