Finished today & blocked.

Ended up being a really quick knit, I finished in less than a fortnight.

Love my colours, I found the brown to work with the green I bought last year without a pattern in mind.

I followed all instructions for size 3 exactly, except not switching to ribbing needle at underarm which I read was a mistake in the pattern.

I used w&t for short rows. I had found it difficult to do short rows neatly in my ribbing in the past but I did not have a problem here. I think the wraps are disguised by being picked up in the transition from ribbing to stockinette. Or my short row technique has improved.

Sleeves

The description for the folded sleeves was lacking detail so I’ll write what I did & seems to have worked for me.

I picked up the sleeves stitches while leaving an extra long tail (probably a couple of metres) of the green (MC) before the first stitch. This is to come back to to use for the bind off. I knit 16 rows in MC followed by 21 rows of brown (CC1), then broke the yarn.

Then I turned the top inside out, folded WS together & positioned the live sts over the armhole sts.

Using the MC tail I knitted together the first live st & the two horizontal tops of the first sleeve stitches. At the same time I bound off by knitting two stitches on the right hand needles together through the back loop. I had to keep checking I was matching the right sts together by tracking down a line of sts on the RS over the fold.

I’m glad I kept the folded sleeves, as well as the contrast colour detail it gives it structure and shape.
