I made this pillow larger to fit an 18” pillow form instead of a 16” pillow form.
Instead of knitting the front with 2” of negative ease and the back with 0” of ease, I knit the front with 1.5” of negative ease and the back with 0.5” of negative ease.
I knit the front 16.5” square and the back 17.5” square.
My gauge was larger than the pattern’s so I used the same stitch count for the front.
I worked 11 full pattern repeats instead of 10.5 pattern repeats.
I picked up 68 sts for the back pieces for a 17.5” width.
I had issues with the button bands gapping on my Turquoise Celtic Comfort, so I made some changes this time.
I knit the top back piece seed stitch button band 2” long (15 rows) instead of 1” long and knit the bottom piece seed stitch button band 1.75” long (13 rows).
For the top back piece I worked 8” (44 rows) in stockinette, 1” (7 rows) in seed stitch, worked the buttonhole row, worked 1” (6 rows) in seed stitch, knit 1 row, and BO for a total length of 10”.
I made four buttonholes instead of three: patt 8, YO, k2tog, patt 15, YO, k2tog, patt 15…YO, k2tog, patt 7.
For the bottom back piece I worked 8.25” (46 rows) in stockinette so if there was gapping between the button bands it wouldn’t be as obvious. I worked 13 rows of seed stitch for the button band.
I crochet slip stitched the seams from the WS.
I used an 18” pillow form from Joann Fabrics.
I used four 1 1/8” buttons from Michaels.
