Tessa is 5.5 years old in the photo (12/19/23).

I added a 5th color - green - and used that in the mane instead of the main color.

I used the same size needles for the rib and the rest of the mitten. I cast on 36 sts for the rib instead of 44 sts.

I knit the rib 2.5” long instead of 3” long.

I used make 1 for the thumb gusset increases instead of YO.

I picked up 12 sts for the thumb instead of 14 sts because I thought a 2.5” thumb circumference would probably be too big.

For the mane I used 7” long strands of yarn instead of 11” long because I thought the long mane looked kind of sad. I trimmed the mane to 2.75” long after attaching it to the mittens.

After washing the mittens the dark pink yarn ends frayed so I had to re-do the mane and I put Fray Check on the yarn ends. I also had to re-cut half of the other colors because I cut them too short.

Hand - 45 rnds:
