I improvised this one based on a store-made hat given to me.

The pattern works best with a stitch number that is a multiple of 12. I used circular needles for most of the pattern, and dp needles when i started decreasing at the top for the crown.

The bottom part is a simple 2x2 rib.

The second part alternates between 6-stitch cable and garter stitch.
