i designed and hand knit this piece in honor of kristin baker’s autoracing paintings. it was also inspired by mario kart double dash.

the body of this intarsia combo racing suit/painting coverall was knit up with double-stranded madelinetosh chunky in composition book grey. all the color work is intarsia and done by sight, sans grid. (you can see my hand painted muslin for this piece on my web site.) all the other colors come from a mix of the yarns listed above. i knit this flat in seven separate pieces (left front, right front, left back, right back, 2 shoulder flares and the collar) then seamed it all together!
