I’ve had the Picky Pants pattern stashed away from when I had my babies. It’s been about… four years? About? Well my friends Brittain and Michelle are having their first baby and Brittain pinned these sock monkey pants on her Baby board on Pinterest (pictured as an inspiration source, it’s not my photo). I’m on a mission!

I knit the small size and combined both short row increase sections for the red mouth, remembering to slip the first stitch of a new color to avoid the colors jogging. I split for the legs, CO 2 sts as directed, and switched to start the leg striping after setting up that first row. I’m making shorts so I shortened the stripes to three rows each. I then switched to US 5 for 5 row garter stitch hems.

For the ears I cast on 9 sts, knit four rows, then decreased at the beginning and end of the next two rows. I bound off the remaining 5 sts and sewed them to the sides of the shorts.
