A great way to use up left over wool. My mum has knitted hundreds of garter stitch rectangles approximately 3” x 6”.
Each strip is around 4’ wide made up of eight full rectangles and one square (half the width of a full rectangle). Varying the end at which the squares are placed created the effect of brickwork.
The blocks are assembled using crochet chain stitch - grey colour chosen because it is not featured in any of the blocks and it creates the look of lead like that in stained glass windows.
A border of crochet (two rows of DC) will finish it off.
